React vs Vue.js: 6 Ways To divergence the Frameworks.

Hello, Learner Welcome to React vs Vue.js Framework Blog

Nowadays JavaScript framework performs a very significant role in the life of developers. I can’t even imagine that the developers are building applications without the convenience of any JavaScript frameworks.

But how it becomes a so important part of the developer’s life?

Firstly JavaScript framework operates as a front-end framework to establish outstanding applications. Secondly, developers are always looking for new and innovative ways to reduce the time to build an application without affecting their functionalities. For that time framework plays a very important role. And lastly, their popularity increasing day by day. The frameworks are growing so quicker than any other framework.

So let’s travel to the past(approx. 1-2 years before) at that time there was a very healthy competition between two frameworks React and Angular. Currently, it is maintained by two colossal companies: React by Facebook and Angular by Google.

After 2018 pretty immediate changes occurred in the field of frameworks and that is because of Vue.js. Vue.js appears as a front-end framework that is produced by a Google employee and currently it is a very huge competition to React and Angular framework.

Before we jump into the main point I have already discussed both of the frameworks in a very interesting way. I have covered each and every concept that a beginner or an advanced level programmer should know while learning anyone of them. So firstly check out each one of them and then you can continue reading the article.

Let’s get started

Following are the points we will discuss:

  1. A Brief history
    1. What is ReactJs?
    2. What is Vue.JS?
  2. React vs Vue.js: Similarities
    • Uses JavaScript versions
    • Virtual DOM
    • reactive and composable view components
    • core library
  3. React vs Vue.js: Differences
    • Documentations
    • Ease of Learning
    • Popularity
    • Community Support
    • Uses of Each framework
    • Coding Style

A Brief History

So lets start with the basic introduction of both the framework.

What is ReactJs?

React logo

React(also known as React.js or ReactJs) is an open-source, declarative, efficient front-end JavaScript library that is specifically designed for building interactive UIs(User Interface). It is developed by Facebook in 2011. It’s a component front-end library that is responsible for the view layer of applications. React is a “V” in MVC( Model-View-Controller).

Currently, ReactJs is ranked #1 as the best framework among web developers. Almost 475k sites are using React. Some giant companies such as Facebook, Netflix, Airbnb, Reddit, Tesla, etc are using React.

What is Vue.JS?

Vue.JS logo

Vue.js is an open-source front-end framework that is mainly designed for creating interactive UIs(User Interface). It is also capable of creating Single Page Applications. Vue.js is created by Evan You and released in 2014.

It is also a progressive JavaScript framework, which means, if you have an existing server-side application, you can plug Vue.js into just one part of your application that needs a richer, more interactive experience.

Currently, more than 64k websites and some giants companies such as Stack overflow, PlayStation, etc. are using Vue.js.

React vs Vue.js: Similarities

So lets start with some similarities between both the J.S. framework.

Firstly both React and Vue.js uses JavaScript versions. React is essentially concentrate on ECMAScript 6( also known as ECMAScript 2015) and Vue.js uses both ECMAScript 5 and 6. Secondly the most important both the framework use Virtual DOM. Each one of them has its own implementations. Thirdly they both provide reactive and composable view components. Lastly, they largely focus on the core library, with concerns such as routing and global state management handled by companion libraries.

React vs Vue.js: Differences

Vue.js Documentation is created by Evan You in cooperation with Dan Abramov. Even Vue.js is somewhere new J.S. framework but its documentation is the best docs. among all the J.S. framework. It is best in class and in terms of performance, it is much better than React.

The Vue.js documentation is very precise and compact in nature. It clears all the concepts very well and because of this, it is more attractive to the beginners to start their journey with the framework.

Whereas if we discuss the documentation of React then it’s a very big disadvantage of the framework. It has very poor documentation. This is because of continually renewing technology and doesn’t write proper documentation for them. Thankfully React developers team is working on this and providing amazing docs. with the period of time.

While choosing any framework ease of learning also presents a very significant role especially for beginners. React is very flexible and gives an easy learning curve. It is very easy to learn. Although it’s not a proper full-fledged framework, we have to add a third-party library, which makes the learning curve a little difficult. Some libraries which are widely used by developers are Mobx and Redux.

Vue.js also provides you flexibility and higher customizability and because of this, vue.js has an easy learning curve that is very easy as compared to React and Angular too. As we all know that Vue is developed by the combination of Angular and React frameworks. It assigns some concepts with both of them and it becomes very easy to transition from Vue.js to React or Angular.

In terms of popularity, React is at the topmost in the list of all the Web frameworks. According to the Stack Overflow developer survey in 2021 React is ranked #1 as the most Loved and Wanted J.S. framework in the world.

Whereas Vue.js is also very popular on the list. It left behind one of the popular frameworks i.e. Angular without the support of any giant company like Google that is Insane. Vue.js is the second most Loved and Wanted J.S. framework.

Community support performs a highly important role in the development of the framework by adding new and unique features. So we can decide that to become a popular framework it should have amazing community support.

React is maintained by a giant company Facebook, the world’s most social media platform. Facebook provides a dedicated team that always focuses on developing and trying to add new features. This is the most significant feature of React. So React has marvelous community support.

Whereas Vue does not support by any large organization but it doesn’t mean their community support is not great. Yes, we can say that the Vue.js community is not as big as React.

This is also an important aspect while choosing the frameworks. Lets see which companies are using which framework.

Companies which uses React:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Whatsapp

Companies which uses Vue.js:

  1. Grammarly
  2. 9GAG
  3. Behance
  4. Gitlab

React uses JSX which stands for JavaScript XML for writing JavaScript expression. JSX allows you to write HTML inside React. React takes everything as a Component, and each component has its own lifecycle methods.

Whereas Vue.js separates each HTML, CSS, and JS. It is the same as web developers do while learning Web Development. It also allowed you to use JSX.

We have seen so many similarities and dissimilarities of both the framework. At last, we can conclude that currently React is more popular than Vue.js. It has a very strong influence on the developers. It also depends on the projects on which you are working. If you are developing a big project then React is perfect for you. While Vue.js is perfect for small projects.

React and Vue.js both has easy learning curve, high flexibility, small in size, and many more. So try to choose that framework which is totally suits your project.
